Carlisle Primary School is located 8 kilometres east of the Perth CBD. The school grounds are well maintained with many large trees, shady verandahs and two grassed playing fields for sporting activities. Currently, the school caters for 315 students from Kindergarten to year 7. There is a strong visual arts, music and drama emphasis. The use of the school's library and ICT facilities is directed towards enhancing the teaching and learning programme across all learning areas. The special needs of students from non English speaking backgrounds are addressed by way of a targeted ESL initiative while an Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer advises and assists in planning and implementing culturally appropriate activities. The learning programme in general is structured to enhance the understanding and appreciation of different cultural groups. A part time chaplain assists the staff in addressing pastoral care issues as they arise whilst community involvement is fostered through the work of a part time community liaison officer, the School Council and a very active Parents and Citizens' Association.
