Camira State School is situated in the city of Ipswich, Queensland and has currently 620 students enrolled in Prep to Year Seven. The school creates a safe, tolerant and disciplined environment for all students, using an inclusive curriculum focussed upon enabling each student to improve his or her skills and abilities, utilisation of diverse teaching and learning strategies, strong positive relationships, and the development of innovative student-centred programs. The focus in Prep to Year 3 is on core foundational knowledge, understandings and skills for success at school. It includes literacy, numeracy, social and emotional competence, health and physical well-being and active learning processes. In Years 4 to 7, the focus is on engagement of students via Essential Learnings in English, maths, science, SOSE, the arts, HPE and technology KLAs, together with a continuing strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy.
