Located in a rural setting along the Keppel Coast, Farnborough State School has a strong reputation for offering a small, supportive and family friendly school environment. Our values of 'Fair, Safe and Studious' (FSS) guide our daily school life and the Farnborough State School ethos of 'Striving for Excellence' can be seen across all aspects of our programs. In support of academic excellence, we offer a diverse educational program. While Literacy and Numeracy are the focus, Science, SOSE, HPE, LOTE, Performing Arts and ICT skills all form part of the student program each week. In 2010, the school has had a strong focus on integrating ICTs into teaching and learning and has established a computer lab in the library and interactive whiteboards in each classroom. An Instrumental Music Program is offered to students in Years 5 to 7. At Farnborough, we cater for all learners by providing Learning Support and access to district extension activities. In 2009 and 2010, Farnborough State School teams won the regional 'Optiminds' challenge and travelled to Brisbane for the state finals. Teams of students have also participated in language, music, maths and science off-site competitions and programs. Our curriculum learning spaces have recently been enhanced through the construction of a Resource Centre and Science/Art/Technology room. Our record in sporting excellence is strong. Farnborough students are regularly chosen for Keppel Coast District representative sporting teams with a number of our staff committing to coaching and managing district teams. We also boast an award winning Equestrian Team. Our close proximity to the beach and extensive sporting grounds enables the school to offer a wide range of activities.
