Waterford West State School has a proud tradition of innovation in curriculum having implemented programs such as boys' education and literacy learning. Partnerships with the Queensland University of Technology inthe URL -'You are Learning' digital multi-literacies project and with Griffith University are enabling innovative literacy education. These initiatives focus on personalised learning for each child driven by engaging in effective classroom practice. Waterford West is founded on the virtues philosophy whereby students are taught the values of such virtues as courtesy, kindness, respect, and responsibility. This is supported by an emotional and social well-being program which is embedded in classroom learning. Waterford West State School provides a program of specialised instruction for students in our special education program and Students in Care. Specialist teachers in Music, Physical Education, and Cultural Studies support a strong curriculum program with Indigenous perspectives embedded. Students participate in a wide range of additional activities such as knitting club, French language, garden club, Rainbow Room, old- fashioned schoolyard games and many more.
