Browns Plains State School is situated in Logan, some 22 km south of the Brisbane GPO, and services a culturally diverse community of around 600 students. We believe that all children are capable of success and we commit in partnership with parents and the community to foster each child's full potential to become a responsible, respectful and contributing citizen. Our school community has an expectation that all students behave safely, respectfully and as learners, and the vast majority of parents are satisfied that their children are receiving a good education at the school. Curriculum programs have been developed collaboratively within Queensland's Curriculum Framework. Social and cultural development is also fostered through extracurricular activities, including Student Council, Interschool Sport, Games Room, Quilting Group, Touring Groups, Choir, Instrumental Music, Camps and Excursions, Competitions, Eisteddfods and Cluster initiatives. Intervention needs are identified using class and systemic test results. Students with disabilities are supported by a Special Education Program and the school also manages an Early Childhood Developmental Program. The following teams: Curriculum teaching and learning, Resources and Behaviour management obtain feedback from the staff and facilitate appropriate professional development. The school works closely with its Parents and Citizens Association to provide additional support for students and the community including the maintenance of the school canteen and outside school hours care facility. A magnificent school hall, a classroom air-conditioning program and resource centre upgrade will certainly enhance school facilities from late 2010 on.
