At The Summit State School we aim to provide high quality education that assists students to love learning, develop judgment and a sense of responsibility, understand the past and prepare to embrace the future. We equip young people for the future to enable them to contribute to a socially, economically and culturally vibrant society. Major highlights during the last twelve months include the acquisition of many new resources in the prep and literacy areas, the completion of a multi-purpose classroom/tuckshop and the creation of an adventure playground. Our major curriculum offerings include weekly visits by an instrumental music teacher, classroom music and physical education taught weekly by visiting specialists, and Italian language taught twice-weekly in face-to-face classes with a specialist language teacher. We also have a strong emphasis on basic literacy and numeracy skills. Our extra-curricular program embraces regular Arts Council sessions, Granite Belt inter-school sports and selection trials, and Granite Belt activities such as Maths Team Challenge and Spaghetti Bridge competition. We also offer Active After School sports twice a week and conduct swimming lessons in Stanhope.
