St Mary's Catholic Primary School is an exciting place to be and has grown from 165 to 365 students in just over four years. Parents send their children to St Mary's for a variety of reasons. Many people comment on the caring culture that permeates all facets of our school community. An obvious strength is the positive atmosphere that exists in our school. The children are loved, respected, and well taught. We offer our students a rounded education that supports personal growth based on Christian values. Parents appreciate our inner city location. Older brothers and sisters are able to attend Catholic secondary schools which are conveniently located nearby. St Mary's Mackay was founded by the Sisters of Mercy and in keeping with their tradition our school has a significant role to play in educating children in the Catholic tradition. Parents who enroll their children in a Catholic school do so because they want them to be educated in the Catholic faith or at least in a Christian environment. St Mary's School, through its religious and educational programmes, supports parents in the task of developing skills for life-long learning. This requires a level of responsibility, and such a partnership requires co-operation, communication, involvement and mutual respect.
