Guthridge Primary School has high expectations of all its students and it aims to provide an opportunity for eachof them to develop as learners, now andin the future thus ourmotto: "Securing the future: To achieve this teachers, children and the wider community work as a team to create a safe and stimulating environment which encourages high self-esteem and individual development. The educational, social and emotional welfare of each student is paramount. Both Parents' Club and School Council are extremely active and constantly strive to provide improved facilties and opportunities for our students. This year our community was thrilled to see the demoliton of our old south wing and the construction of a brand-new $2.6 million project resulting in six new classrooms, a purpose-built art room and open learning areas. These will be fully operational in early 2011. This was made possible with Federal funding through the Building Education Revolution program. 10 classrooms are in operation for an enrolment of 215 students. This includes the highly regarded and sought after Modified Prep class which is unique to the area and is aimed at sudents who are of school age but are not quite ready either socially or developmentally for the more formal Prep year. Specialist classes are offered in French, Music, Library/Art and Physical Education. Our school constantly strives to improve the teaching and learning opportunities for our students and we are proud of what we have achieved in 2010.
