St Joseph’s Primary School is situated in the heart of West Tamworth and provides quality education endeavouring to cater for the needs of each individual. We pride ourselves on the family atmosphere that makes our school successful. Each child has the opportunity to develop in a caring environment where all are valued and encouraged to be involved in an holistic education experience. Success at St Joseph’s is achieved through collaboration with parents, school, parish and the wider community. Religious Education, Literacy and Numeracy each have a key focus within the school. In 2011 the school community welcomed the additional facilities provided through the Federal government Building the Economic Revolution (BER) initiative. Completion of three new general learning areas gave the school extra classroom space and allowed for further diversity in class allocations for 2012. New toilets were a welcome addition as was the new library facility including up to date shelving and storage, computers for student research and spaces for the children to read in groups or independently. The move to the Oliver Library System and the additional use of SCIS for accessioning materials has created an excellent learning space for the whole community. The new administration area includes offices for executive and staff, a meeting room, a modern staffroom and secure secretarial area. A computer lab will be developed to provide a teaching area for all classes where ICT skills can be developed and consolidated. Each classroom has Smartboard technology. The purchase of iPads for student classroom use enhances the information technology available for all students. Community groups are welcomed into the school on many occasions in the year such as NAIDOC Week and Book Week. National Reconciliation Day is of particular importance, as is our school participation in the local ANZAC Day March.
