Parafield Gardens School is renowned for its focus on student's wellbeing, encouraging a sense of social responsibility and personal achievement. This was acknowledged in 2008 with our school being accredited as a Save the Children United Nations Global Peace School. Our school community values working together to achieve, respect, care, compassion, personal achievement and integrity. We also value understanding and acceptance of others. This is achieved through classroom and specialist social skills programs within the school. Our focus is on literacy and science and our specialist programs are the arts and PE. Students participate in sport activities, J-Rock and the Festival of Music. Students have a voice on issues through student committees. Currently these committees are for managing our peace program, eco initiatives and student council. Older students work across the school with younger children as part of our 'Partners at Learning' program. Non English speaking students account for 35 percent of our students and come from 28 cultural groups. We also have an increasing mobile community with 25 percent of our students having enrolled in 2009.
