Barmera Primary School is located in the Riverland, 220km from Adelaide. The school, located on attractive grounds of approximately nine hectares, has a large oval and shady play areas, tennis courts and a well-equipped gym. The school community consists mainly of fruit growers, people in small business and those associated with the tourism industry. Our mission, 'Learning unlimited', and values of respect, friendship, feeling safe, positive social skills and continuous learning, underpin all that we do. The majority of students from LOTE ( languages other than English) backgrounds are of Greek descent. Special curriculum offerings include instrumental music (flute, clarinet, trumpet, piano and guitar), choir, computer education, volunteer-supported reading program, Modern Greek and Mother Tongue Greek, and intensive literacy support. 'Studies of Asia' programs are developing an increasing profile as a result of the ongoing exchange with an elementary school in Korea. Participation in sporting activities is encouraged and is strong. Our out-of-hours care programs (including vacation care) are well-attended.
