Karrendi Primary School is a small community-centred school nestled in between Salisbury Highway and the train line at Parafield Gardens. It is a place where all people are respected and acknowledged as individual learners. We provide a rigorous and engaging curriculum where all staff are involved in developing appropriate learning plans. It is our aim to fully develop the whole child, resulting in well-rounded citizens. Leadership staff work closely with teachers and School Service Officers (SSO) to ensure optimum support is available to further develop students in all social, emotional and academic areas of the curriculum. The school has a strong literacy focus. A one-hour uninterrupted reading block is supported by all staff, including the leadership and SSOs. This allows for intensive group work catering for a wide range of readers. During this time the teacher-student ratio is approximately 1:8. All children are involved in a guided reading session, word knowledge and modelled reading ensuring every child engages in a daily quality reading program. This program is continuing to produce outstanding results for all students.
