Chirnside Park Primary School is a vibrant learning environment committed to continuous improvement and to working with the whole school community. We are developing exciting new curriclum directions but Literacy and Numeracy are seen to be core learning areas. A highly successful new reading program has been introduced from Prep to Year 6 resulting in students developing a thorough understanding of the reading strategies required of a good reader and deepening their comprehension skills. Our focus on Spelling, grammar and punctuation is improving children's writing skills and our Spelling results are outstanding. Keeping abreast of new technologies is seen to be of particular importance and our recent purchase of Ipods deliver peronalised programs to address individual learning needs. Several newly purchased programs support our students individual Literacy and Numeracy needs. A professional team of teachers is dedicated to delivering a range of quality programs. Staff are supported by a teaching and learning coach to ensure teachers keep up with cutting edge best practice. The school prides itself on providing a personal approach to improving student learning. There is a high emphasis on individual assessment in order that teachers have a thorough understanding of each child's learning needs. Teachers really know their students and relationships are strong. The goal is for individuals to reach their full potential in all areas of the curriculum. Literacy and Numeracy intervention is provided by a variety of means including one on one support. A variety of extra programs are offered to cater for children's interest and abilities including athletics, camping, excursions, interschool sport, dance , aerobics, PMP, instrumental music, clay animation, public speaking and the highly popular surfing excursion for the senior students.
