Our small rural school is strongly valued and supported by the local community. With a long history of environmental education, the school has embedded sustainable practices. Our purpose is to provide a high quality education for all students, which engages, challenges, motivates and inspires all students to strive for achievement and improvement and encourages them to become lifelong learners and valuable members of society. With strong leadership programs, student welfare is a priority throughout the school. The school recognises the family and community as a vital element and close liaison is encouraged, through open lines of communication and high level family involvement. Our dedicated team of 2 full and 2 part time teaching staff and a 0.4 Business Manager, embrace Professional Learning and bring a wealth of skill to SPS. With an enrolment of 38 students in 2010, we operate two multi-age classes, with specialist programs in art, drama, library, music and Italian. Our rich school curriculum includes gardening programs, science sessions, sewing and craft groups, a school music ensemble, leadership programs, film making and digital animation. Having operated from our temporary site since February 2009, we returned in October 2010 to Strathewen following the rebuilding of our school after the 2009 bushfires. We now enjoy outstanding building facilities and state of the art classrooms and ICT equipment . Our community members are now heavily involved in the re-development of our gardens and grounds, continuing to provide a rich environment for our students.
