Darling Heights State School is in the south west quadrant of Toowoomba, beside the University of Southern Queensland. It provides comprehensive education to approximately 560 students from Prep to Year 7 in a co-educational setting. Our school has a diverse and culturally rich population having 214 students identified from other cultures and 189 children indicating born overseas. About 200 students have a language background other than English and 62 are refugees from Africa. We are truly a multicultural school with acceptance, tolerance and understanding of others being features. Darling Heights State School offers programs in all of the KLAs. The three sub-schools each offer core literacy and numeracy blocks and programs to encourage higher achieving students, extension literacy groups, enrichment programs, extension modules and extra-curricular offerings. The school's music and physical education specialists teach all classes. Opportunities exist to participate in choir, stage and concert bands, Eisteddfod, intra- and inter-school sport and instrumental music including woodwind, brass and percussion. We strive to provide a happy, enjoyable and safe student environment and encourage and maintain parental involvement in our school.
