Kuranda District State College is now in its fourth year of operation having been created from the amalgamation of Kuranda District State School and Kuranda State High School. KDSC offers the best of both worlds with new state of the art primary school facilities and modern high school learning areas. With over 400 students from Preparatory Year to Year 12, the College is the perfect size for teachers and students to form effective relationships and partnerships. Despite our small enrolment size, we currently offer a subject range equivalent to that offered by much larger schools. We also offer a variety of adult education opportunities. The college is well provisioned to meet the academic learning needs of students including a staff that has a good gender and experience balance. In addition the college has a Guidance Officer/Careers Counsellor, Youth Support Worker, School Based Nurse, Learning Support Teacher and Special Needs Teacher with visiting specialist teachers in a variety of areas including Behaviour Support. The college has a strong student welfare philosophy and program which is underpinned by the Positive Behaviour Schools program.
