Our Vision: St Joseph's Catholic College, a dynamic Christ-centred community of learners nurturing holistic development through: Respect, Resilience and Relationship. St Joseph's is set in the busy rural town of Katherine in Northern Territory. Its large grounds reflect the tropical climate of the area with lots of lush greenery, palm trees and wide open spaces. St Joseph's is a culturally diverse college with Indigenous Australian and non-Indigenous Australian students and students from a range of other cultures. We are a Catholic College and follow the Diocesan Catholic Religious Education program. We come together to begin each week with College Prayer prepared by different classes. The Catholic Ethos permeates our relationships, programs, policies and procedures. Approximately a third of our students are from Defence families and two Defence School's Transition Aides are employed to support these students and their families. The College has three areas on the one campus. Little Joeys is a long day care facility for 3 to 5 year olds which has a focus on children being actively involved in the environment, and interactive literacy and numeracy activities. The Primary area caters for students from Transition to Year 6. The Middle School caters for students from Year 7 to Year 10 and we are currently undergoing an enquiry with the community into the viability of extending to Year 11 and 12. Student numbers have been steadily increasing with a current enrolment of around 360 students. We have high expectations for student achievement and challenge them to achieve their full potential. This includes helping students to access Vocational Education Training as well as academic subject areas. St Joseph's has a strong pastoral care program which is supported by the College Religious Education program, reflection days for Middle School students, a positive whole school behaviour project and a College counsellor.
