The Newhaven Primary School motto is Learning for the Future. A whole school vision was developed by the staff, students and school community and says: “At Newhaven Primary School, we will continue to achieve by aspiring to the highest possible standards in English and Maths and provide exciting learning where our children equip themselves for a dynamic future”. This vision recognises that the school has a history of achievement in English and Maths and must continue this successful tradition as well as producing confident learners who can adapt to the ever changing world. Values and behaviours have also been developed by the whole school community so as to make the objectives of the school clear to students, teachers and parents alike. Specific changes to address the areas of Student Learning and Student Engagement include the upgrading of the ICT hardware in the school and a thorough review of all school priorities and practices. We have incorporated ICT into the curriculum through the use of Interactive Whiteboards, laptops and fixed computers. The development of our 11.5 equivalent full time staff: 1 Principal class, 6.7 teachers and 3.2 Education Support staff to improve Maths and English outcomes, along with their capabilities to make full use of resources available to them, will continue to improve Teaching and Learning.
