Alberton Primary School has five values that are the foundation for everything we do - belonging, discovery, diversity, success and well-being. We are an International Baccalaureate candidate school, operating within a progressive education philosophy. We aim to develop a genuine passion for learning among students and staff. Children are encouraged to discover the wonders within their world, to communicate powerfully, to develop their creativity and proudly celebrate their achievements. Our ultimate aim is to inspire children to identity a future they hope for and set about creating that future. This will help them understand that they have the power to contribute to their world both as individuals and together with others. Working together respectfully is a key to our success as a diverse school community. Students are encouraged to participate in a broad range of specialist activities including Wakakirri Story Dance; choir; chess; any of six interschool sports; the art show; aqua science, including endangered-fish breeding program; brain busters problem solving; and Maori and Pitjantjatjara language programs, including annual cultural exchanges and student leadership roles.
