Basket Range Primary School is located in a beautiful rural setting with sweeping views and extensive grounds that provide a safe, supportive and stimulating environment for our students. We are proud of the school’s outstanding sense of community where students, staff, parents and community members work together to create a stimulating atmosphere based on co-operation and mutual respect. We value small class sizes averaging 10-15 students. Our experienced and dedicated teachers support students to work at their own level and extend their individual interests. Our philosophy is to support each child to discover their natural aptitudes, interests and passions. Our special curriculum features a social justice ethos as an integral part of student learning, with students engaged in and supporting community service projects such as Lions and Rotary clubs as well as sponsoring a World Vision child. We are currently training a Guide Dog for the Blind, Baxter. Our students develop awareness of environmental issues through productive vegetable gardens, our butterfly garden and frog pond, working closely with local Landcare groups and the replanting of Indigenous vegetation, waste management and energy awareness programs. Our grounds have rambling gardens, an adventure playground, formal playgrounds and sports grounds. We have strong focus on music, including opportunities to play and perform on our unique musical playground. Additional co-curricular activities include choir, piano lessons, chess classes, dance, and lunch-time art and craft workshops.
