Salisbury North R to 7 Primary School was established in 1954. Our community is a strong, proud and loyal group and many parents attended this school as students themselves. A strong focus on a range of innovative literacy practice operates across the school. These programs incorporate whole school assessment of reading and writing, literacy focus time, reading recovery, accelerated literacy and English as a second language. We also focus on oral language development in the early years. We have 'New Arrivals' classes to accommodate families from overseas and specialist teaching areas including; music, physical education and art. Extensive pastoral care programs are in place for students and families and are supported by school counsellors and a pastoral care worker. We offer many opportunities for students to develop leadership skills through three student forums - Yard, Others in Need and Whole School Activities. The school participates in SAPSASA sporting competitions and parents and staff organise teams for Saturday netball competitions. The Salisbury North Football Club is across the road from the school and is a focal point for many community activities.
