Swallowcliffe P-7 School is a Preschool to Year 7 site, situated on Peachey Road, in Davoren Park. The current enrolment is about 486 including the preschool, 17 mainstream classes and two special classes. Our curriculum priority is literacy with a specific focus on reading for understanding. Students in years 5-7 and in special classes are supported by a 1:1 laptop program. Ipads will soon be distributed for use in Junior Primary classes and special education support programs. The school values of respect, achievement and honesty are focused on in classrooms and the yard and have seen a positive impact on school culture. We provide a range of support programs to cater for students with learning difficulties, Aboriginal and ESL students. We are currently in an exciting phase of redevelopment, which has started with a new gymnasium being constructed. In 2012, classrooms will be refurbished and a covered outdoor learning area will be built over the middle quadrangle of the school, providing ample covered outdoor play space. The school is strongly committed to student voice through a well-established Student Representative Council which plays a significant role in site decision-making and in supporting student leadership. Staff structures facilitate collaborative teaching and learning and curriculum innovation, cooperation and reflection to improve student learning outcomes.
