Mitcham Girls is located in the beautiful suburb of Kingswood, just 10 minutes from the city and is easily accessible by public transport. As one of two single sex state schools, it is not zoned. Many girls travel considerable distances to come to a school where they can be successful and be afforded extensive leadership opportunities. The school prides itself on being a professional, progressive, learning community dedicated to providing outstanding educational opportunities for girls. The school encourages excellence at all levels and develops an awareness of the changing choices available to women in our society. Mitcham Girls High values and promotes respect, positive working relationships, diversity, individuality, excellence, fairness and world citizenship. The school offers a SHIP (Students of High Intellectual Potential) program for selected Year 8 to 10 students and the same teaching methods are used in other classes. In the senior school, students study a wide range of subjects accredited by the SACE board. Currently the school is working towards being accredited by the Council of International Schools.
