Grovedale College is a medium sized College with an enrolment of 730 students. We have 51.09 equivalent full time staff, 3 Principal Class and 15.35 EFT Education Support Staff. We are located in an area serving the southern suburbs of Geelong, together with the rural and Surf Coast communities to the south, east and west. Extensive educational resources enable Grovedale College to provide an academic focus together with many Arts, Science, Sport and Technology opportunities. VCE enhancement subjects, VCAL and VET courses, provide many new opportunities for University and TAFE studies and exciting pathways to the future. Excellence, achievement and improvement are central to all College programs. Ongoing curriculum reform and refinement has resulted in a series of initiatives based around the concept of active curriculum, higher order thinking and a multidisciplinary approach to planning and learning. A Notebook Program operates across Year 7 to 9 and staff and students have access to the College Intranet / Gateway and the Ultranet and Internet. Senior Maths and Science teaching and learning is enhanced by ELMS (eLearning in Maths and Science.) In term 2 all Year 10 students will have a netbook to allow them greater access to our developing eLearning curriculum. This year we have a whole school focus on writing and numeracy. Our Region appointed Maths Coach will work with and support Maths teachers in years 7 and 8. Our focus remains, Results, Results, Results with a specific focus on improved student outcomes in writing and numeracy.
