Taylors Lakes Secondary College is 22 km north west of central Melbourne. The current enrolment is 1282 students (years 7-12). There are more students in years 7-9 compared to Later Years due to enrolment growth. This school has 112 equivalent full time staff: 4 Principal Class, 88.2 Equivalent Full Time Teachers and 19.8 Education Support Staff. The focus of our current Strategic Plan (2010-2013) on Student Literacy Across the Curriuculum, Student Numeracy and VCE achievement, combined with ongoing improvement in student engagement will continue to dominate our actions and planning moving forward. New leading Teacher roles were implemented in 2010 to support the Strategic Plan implemenation. Our values focus on showing respect, commitment and safety. Our data shows high levels of student connectedness to school and high retention. In 2009-10, improvement was seen in the overall VCE study score and NAPLAN results generally when compared to the previous year. The Performing Arts Centre was opened. Curriculum innovation work has continued in Mathematics and Literacy with significant professional learning to enhance student learning, as reflected in the data.
