Kalamunda Senior High School is a special place, offering a comprehensive, caring education for 13 to 18 year olds. We enjoy all the benefits of a large city like Perth while being in a quiet, rural environment. This creates a school that is a close knit community educating its third generation of hills families. Celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2010 allowed us to recognize the achievements of the many thousands of students who have been educated at Kalamunda. The contribution of our former students, now spread across Australia and the globe, in the fields of medicine, law, the Arts, the public service, science, the defence forces and in national level sport are remarkable. A focus of our school are the values that underpin all we do. Developed by the whole school community our values of respect, resilience, community, pride and a love of learning reflect what we hope our students can achieve and aspire to as young adults. The values sit well with our vision -Sharing our Forest of Possibilities- which opens up the whole world to our students and allows them to explore their potential. Kalamunda excels in the Arts and we have a system-endorsed Gifted and Talented program in the Visual Arts that has been nurturing young artists for 30 years and includes specialized tutoring on Saturday mornings. Our students achieve exceptional results and accolades for their work. They consistently win local and State awards and their work is always selected for the annual Western Australian Perspectives, Metamorphosis and Young Originals exhibitions. To complement the visual arts Kalamunda has excellent music, dance, drama, photography and media programs that are showcased in a professional standard performing arts centre. To further develop these special talents, we are introducing a selective Performing Arts Program in music, dance and drama, commencing for Year 8 students, in 2012.
