Townsville South State School, located two kilometers from Townsville's CBD, has been offering a quality education since 1884. Currently it offers multi-age classrooms and provides both preparatory year and primary education along with an after-school care program. Our early education classroom is a Prep, Year 1 and 2 combination. The other classrooms include a Year 3,4 and 5 composite class and a Year 6 and 7 classroom. To cater for a central focus on delivering high standards of literacy and numeracy and responding to individual achievement levels of students, flexible classroom structures operate during Maths instruction and the school's spelling program. The school's Curriculum Framework ensures the syllabus requirements are delivered effectively through integrated units of study. Assessment is central to these units. Student achievement against assessment is mapped and reported to students and parents regularly or on request.Student leadership and participation is a high priority and organised using the peer-support program.This is used to develop positive relationships, the school's values and the newly framed 'sustainability' agenda.The P andC strongly supports both student and school activities.
