Flagstone Creek State School, which celebrates its 125th Anniversary in 2011, is a small primary school catering for students in Prep to Year 7. The school is situated in a very picturesque setting in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, 30 km from Toowoomba. Our successful curriculum has a central focus on high levels of literacy and numeracy. In 2009, the school received a Regional Showcase Award for Excellence in recognition of its significant contribution to improving student learning outcomes through the program, 'School Community Learning in a Digital World'. The school also received an Excellence in Education Award from the Australian College of Educators. Flagstone Creek State School offers caring, experienced staff, strong family values and high standards. One class includes Prep to Year 4 students, while the other caters for students in Years 5 to 7. These multi-age classes cater to individual student needs. Specialist Music, Physical Education, Languages Other Than English and Learning Support Teachers visit the school regularly. A grant from the Gaming Community Benefit Fund enabled an Instrumental Music Program to commence in Semester 2, 2010. Fifteen of the school's 25 students are currently learning a musical instrument. The school has a high computer to student ratio and each classroom has an electronic whiteboard. Results from the annual School Opinion Survey, undertaken by Education Queensland, show that our parents, students and staff are 'Very Satisfied' with the school, rating it 'Significantly Above' the state average in every one of the 22 dimensions surveyed. Flagstone Creek State School is committed to providing a safe, respectful and disciplined learning environment for students and staff, where students have opportunities to engage in quality learning experiences. A Responsible Behaviour Plan, developed in conjunction with the P and C, has been put in place to facilitate high standards of behaviour, so that learning and teaching can be effective and students can participate..
