Set in the foothills and surrounded by farms and bush, Invermay Primary School has all the advantages of a rural school with the convenience of the readily accessible resources of the city of Ballarat. Many of the families travel some distance to attend the school, recognising the benefits of smaller enrolments. The values of Commitment, Respect, Cooperation, Honesty and Taking Responsibility are integral to our education program. Explicit teaching of these values provides students with a better understanding of their importance both in and beyond the classroom. Invermay Primary School fosters a close relationship between the community and the school, with an active parent group that combines fundraising with social events for all the community. Facilities include new classrooms, a well stocked library, an art room and a hall for assemblies and sporting activities. The hall has a new, well equipped kitchen, designed specifically for student use. The extensive grassed grounds include two shade covered adventure playgrounds and a vegetable garden. The old oak trees and natives also provide shaded areas for the students to play. There were 27 children enrolled in 2010, an increase of 9 from the previous year. Two classes operate with an aide in each to work with the students who are supported through the Disabilities and Impairments Program. The school has 5.0 equivalent full time staff: 1.0 Principal Class, 2.0 teacher class and 2.0 Education Support Staff.
