Kananook Primary School, situated in Wells Road, Seaford, has an enrolment of 196 in 2010. Kananook is committed to encouraging all students to aim for their very best, to develop self confidence, to become problem solvers and to respect themselves and the rights of others. The teaching staff provides access to a broad general education of the highest quality for all students. Student engagement is the basis for all learning so teachers develop respectful relationships with students and respond to their diverse learning and social needs. Kananook has excellent grounds and facilities including air-conditioned buildings, a spacious hall, extensive computing equipment, well equipped art and music facilities and its own bus. The school offers specialist programs in Performing Arts, LOTE (Japanese) and Art. Class teachers conduct PE and Library lessons. A four classroom 'Learning & Library Centre' was completed in August and the senior classess moved in during Term 4. During the past six years the school has developed an Environment Centre comprising a fruit orchard, vegetable patch, herb garden, wetland area and a potting shed to propagate plants. Our very own 'Kid's Kitchen' was opened in Term 1 and all of the students from Prep to Year 6 learn how to prepare healthy food and snacks using fresh produce from the school vegetable garden.
