As an IB World School, with strong community partnerships, we commit to excellence and the development of principled, compassionate, lifelong learners, who know they can take action to make a difference to our world. We provide a challenging, globally significant curriculum that addresses individual differences and learning styles. The school caters for the development of the whole child encompassing their academic, social, emotional, physical and cultural needs in an environment that fosters intercultural understanding and respect. During 2010 the school community continued its authorisation as an International Baccalaureate (Primary Years Program) World School. This is an achievement of which the whole school community is extremely proud. In 2010 Highton developed a new Strategic Plan. This has allowed the school to establish priorities for the next four years. Highton is an inclusive school that takes pride in catering for each child as an individual. We recognise that each child has different needs and our teaching and learning reflects this understanding. The school facilities and environment is designed with the needs of 21st century learners in mind. The school has 10 classrooms, an Arts, PE, Italian and Reading Recovery teacher. There are also 5 program assistants and 1.2 office staff.
