Kinglake Primary School is located in the Kinglake Ranges, approximately 60 kilometres north of Melbourne. The current enrolment is 66(2011), markedly reduced as a result of families relocating after the bushfires of February 7th, 2009. The school is staffed by the principal, 3 full time teachers, 2 part time teachers, a business manager, and 2 part time integration aides. Specialist subjects include Physical Education, Music, Science and I.C.T. Extra curricula programs include RACV Energy Breakthrough, Jump Rope for Heart, Whole School Musical Production. Kinglake Primary School is a KidsMatter school, providing a mental health program for students and families. A "Walk To School' program runs every Friday. Our Out of School Hours program includes music, art and sporting activities. Extensive grounds and facilities complement the purpose designed buildings and provide students with significant space for a variety of play and physical activities. A fitness course surrounds the oval and there is a boardwalk situated in an area of natural bushland called 'Yackatoon'. The school completed a "Bushfire Memorial Rotunda" and "Memorial Garden" in 2010 with the support of charitable organisations. In 2010 our school was part of the National Partnerships program which provided literacy and numeracy support for our students and staff. Additional funds for Literacy and Psychological support were allocated to our school in 2010 to continue to assist students affected by the bushfires.
