Harlaxton is a small suburban school on the northern outskirts of Toowoomba, the regional centre of the Darling Downs, approximately 140 km from Brisbane. The school population at the commencement of 2010 was 140. Harlaxton has a high level of student transience due to lack of employment opportunities and long term housing availability. In order to accurately map the individual progress of the students, the school has structured a comprehensive whole school assessment regime. This allows the school to more accurately report on the success of curriculum initiatives and make appropriate adjustments in a timely manner. The core values of our school - Respect, Relationships and Resilience - underpin all aspects of school life and in addition to being explicitly taught, are embedded into our curriculum delivery. The highly trained, enthusiastic staff of the school is committed to providing a quality holistic education for all students. As a result of exceptional teamwork and solution-focused communications, the positive ambience of the school is reflected in high staff morale. The P and C Association plays a proactive role in the life of the school. Membership and parental involvement in the P and C is continually strengthening. All members of the Harlaxton school community are excited and enthused by the financial and other resource enablers associated with being a National Partnership School (Low SES). The Four Year Strategic Plan, formulated in July 2010, outlines the direction of the school with regard to student achievement, community engagement and other secondary factors that impinge on the school's academic success. Six monthly reviews of the progress made will assist us in ensuring the targeted areas of the plan are both achievable and being met. Harlaxton State School proudly boasts an indigenous student enrolment of about 43% and celebrates the diversity of our entire student population. All students are catered for through our vision, 'The Whole Child - Making connections, Creating opportunities'. Please..
