North Geelong Secondary College is a single campus 7-12 school located in the northern suburbs of the City of Greater Geelong. It provides a high quality education in a safe, supportive and challenging learning environment. The school values "Respect, Excellence, Achievement and Diversity" are promoted in the wider school community. The majority of the student enrolment is drawn from the northern suburbs of Geelong. The school provides for a culturally diverse community. This school has 75.2 equivalent full-time staff: 3 Principal class, 59 teachers and 19 Education Support Staff. The current school enrolment is 591 students. The ESL enrolments are in the range of 20 -25% of students. In recent years there has been an increase in enrolment of students who are new arrivals in Australia. North Geelong Secondary College provides a transition English as a Second Language (ESL) program which includes a VCAL (ESL) program for older students. There is also ongoing withdrawal or alternaive support programs provided to students. The college is a base for the Geelong English Language Centre (GELC). In 2010 the refugee enrolment was 17.3% and is increasing. The Student Family Occupation density index is 0.75 and LBOTE (Language Background Other Than English) proportion 38%. The college has an excellent program for Student with Disabilities. The school is in receipt of Smarter Schools National Partnerships funding which will allow an enhanced focus on teaching and learning.
