Courtenay Gardens School ACARA 2012 statement Courtenay Gardens Primary School, which we market as 'The Best School in the State', prides itself on providing a world class learning environment where students and teachers work together to achieve their full potential. Our catch cry is ‘Students come first in everything we do’. School enrolments of approximately 700 students come from a range of backgrounds with an increasing proportion from language backgrounds other than English. Our school goal is that continuous improvement is achievable for every student. This improvement is especially centred on Literacy, Numeracy and ICT. Through our Strategic Plan we scaffold on to our successes in the areas of writing, reading comprehension and spelling. A revised, consistent whole-school approach to Mathematics uses the basics to build a strong foundation for future learning. Integrated into Numeracy and Literacy is the unique use of multimedia and ICT which connects children to the global classroom and impacts positively on student achievement. Students are inspired and challenged to strive for excellence in all they do whilst engaging in a range of learning experiences including the core areas of Literacy and Numeracy, the Arts, Physical Education, leadership skills, community service, environmental awareness and Multimedia/ICT. The core values of respect, responsibility and commitment are interwoven with all that we do at Courtenay Gardens and emphasised throughout the daily life of the student at school. These values are reflected in our school goals, policies and through our interactions with each other. All of this has a positive impact on the well being of the school community of students, parents and staff.
