Located in Seacombe Gardens, the school is part of the Catholic Sector’s, South West Region. Catering for students in Reception to Year Five, the school prides itself on its reputation of offering a quality education that caters for the needs of all students. Stella Maris Parish School was founded in 1956 by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan. Generations later the traditions and beliefs of the Good Samaritan Sisters are still at the heart of our community. The school responds well to the challenge of preparing its students for a rapidly changing and complex future. The school, in partnership with parents and caregivers aims to nurture each child by giving them a sense of worth, a foundation of skills for living, a set of values and a sense of God. The school offers a broad curriculum, supported by specialist teachers in Science, Drama, Italian, Music and Physical Education. Regular class activities are supported by incursions and excursions for all year levels and camps in years four and five. Excellent, modern facilities and resources further compliment the dynamic curriculum that caters for the educational needs of students. All students have daily access to PC’s, notebooks, IPads and Interactive Whiteboards. A range of support programmes in numeracy and literacy for identified students have proven extremely successful in improving the educational outcomes for those involved. An extensive out of hours sports programme offers opportunities for students to be involved in a multitude of activities. Involvement of parents/caregivers is recognised as paramount in the educational process and the fostering of community spirit. The school offers a variety of avenues for parents to be involved, from daily hands on class activities to after hours school governance roles.
