We value our tradition and share our story. The Sisters of Mercy arrived in Millicent in 1898. Catherine McAuley founded the Mercy Order of religious sisters and strongly believed that children should not be taught just the 3R's, but should also be educated in faith. Her Sisters’ mission was to devote themselves to the poor, whose need for a Catholic education was not being met. At St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School, through our motto of ‘Respect, Justice and Faith’ the respect and dignity of each individual is paramount and is reflected in the promotion of self esteem, self discipline and responsibility through various programmes and policies. Our curriculum aims to be dynamic, challenging and diverse in order to respond to students' needs in the rapidly changing world of the 21st century. Each student is encouraged to aim for personal excellence and to develop skills of independent learning and critical thinking in a co-operative learning environment. We seek a close partnership between the school, parish, home and the local community.
