Highbury Primary is situated in the north-eastern foothills of Adelaide. The school has an enrolment of between 580 and 600 children and offers after-school and vacation care programs. The school offers a broad-based curriculum, with an outstanding music program. The South Australian Curriculum Standards and Accountability framework is used for planning and development. Student negotiation is a priority in the planning process. Our current strategic directions include the teaching and learning of high level thinking skills, literacy, numeracy and Information and Communication Technologies. Specialist teaching is offered in music, Mandarin Chinese and environmental education. We are an 'Eco School' where students engage in energy saving and recycling initiatives. The school also participates in a wide sporting program, 'Pedal Prix', interschool chess competitions and SAPSASA sporting events. We have an outstanding academic record and place a high emphasis on achieving personal best. Our 'Student Voice' program is active across the R to 7 range, with senior students afforded leadership opportunities. Around 23 per cent of students are eligible for school card assistance.
