Whyalla Town Primary School, established in 1905 and the oldest school in Whyalla, promotes a sense of community and has strong community and volunteer involvement. Our motto is 'Success for all' and we achieve this through strong curriculum accountability, quality teaching and highly professional collaborative staff. Subject specialisation occurs for students in years 4 to 7 in the arts, studies of society and environment (SOSE), and technology. There is a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy with whole school approaches being implemented to ensure continuity of learning and high student achievement. The Reading Recovery program supports students needing a boost in their reading and Brain Gym is implemented across the school. The school's Language other than English (LOTE) is German. We run after hours school care, vacation care and Active After School Hours sport programs along with a range of extracurricular offerings which include instrumental music, choir and participation in sports carnivals.
