Gladstone Views Primary School is located in a residential setting in the north-western suburb of Gladstone Park. The school serves an economically, socially and culturally diverse community. Changing demographics have brought about a gradual decline in enrolments (339 students in 2010). The percentage of students from a language background other than English has increased during the past three years, with twenty languages currently represented. The school is staffed with a Principal , Assistant Principal, 17.4 teaching staff 5 non teaching staff . We believe that a sound values-based education can strengthen students’ self esteem, resilience and personal commitment, at the same time, develop their sense of ethical judgement and social responsibility. The school provides a safe and secure environment in which learning can be fun and enjoyable, whilst ensuring that all students are challenged and can achieve success. The Victorian Essential Learning Standards is implemented with a strong emphasis on developing Literacy, Numeracy and thinking skills. A wide range of extra-curricula programs is offered. Classrooms are heated, air-conditioned and equipped with a vast range of resources including networked computers and netbooks. The school is modern, well maintained and of contemporary design with a new full size basketball stadium with attached music room and a redisgned senior learning area to be completed by June 2011.
