St Mary’s Catholic College, Casino is a Year 7 – 12 regional coeducational secondary colleg catering for a diverse range of students from Casino and surrounding areas. Our School motto, Reach Out is integral to all aspects of college life. Faith development in the Catholic tradition is central to the existence of St Mary’s. The college boasts a strong Catholic culture with a vibrant prayer life. Religious Education is taught to all classes and we enjoy a close relationship with St Mary’s Parish and St Mary’s Primary School. St Mary’s offers a wide selection of academic and vocational subjects. Agriculture and Primary Industries (VET) were added to our curriculum in 2010 as part of St Mary’s EARTH – Environmental, Agricultural and Rural Technology Hub. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are incorporated throughout all KLAs. Students in Years 7 & 10 have been issued with netbooks as part of the Federal Government’s Digital Education Revolution scheme. By January, 2012, every student in the college will have personal access to their own device. Our HSC results are sound and we are proud of the academic achievements of all of our students. There is a specialist facility which provides extra assistance to students with identified learning needs. Support is also offered through regular life skills classes and a combination of in-class support and small-group withdrawal. A homework centre runs each Monday afternoon, assisting students from all year levels and abilities.We employ an Indigenous Education Assistant to work with our indigenous students across a range of areas. The college also offers access to a qualified counsellor who is available to work with both individual students and their families. St Mary’s has a proud co-curricular tradition and fields many sporting teams and hosts various cultural pursuits, including the annual Showcase production. The newly formed Bovine Appreciation Group (St Mary’s BAG) attended various local and interstate shows and won several awards..
