Founded in 1856, St Catherine’s is a K-12 Anglican day and boarding girls' school situated close to the city of Sydney. With approximately 970 students, we are small enough to know every girl, yet large enough to offer a broad curriculum and co-curricular opportunities to encourage girls to discover and harness their unique strengths and talents. There are two striking characteristics of a St Catherine's education: academic challenge and academic care. As a non-selective school, we work hard to ensure we set the academic bar at the right height for each girl. We do this by tailoring learning to individual difference through extension and enrichment programs, scholarship mentoring, gifted and talented opportunities, and academic support. Our focus on academic challenge is underpinned by a strong academic care structure. Our team of Year Mentors and Mentors monitor, support and guide the girls in their care, and liaise closely with parents. We endeavour to equip girls to become effective global citizens by encouraging foreign language study – European, Asian or classical - and offering international exchanges from Year 9. Our Service Education program emphasises the importance of giving, developing teamwork and leadership skills through local and international service opportunities. Our academic curriculum is complemented by a rich program of sport and music, in which we encourage all girls to participate. There are many other co-curricular opportunities - drama, dance, debating, Speech and Drama and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme to name a few - to enable girls to find something they love and pursue it.
