Athlone Primary School is located seventeen kilometres south of the West Gippsland town of Drouin. The original building was demolished in 1965 and replaced by the forerunner of today’s three classroom school. The majority of children live ten to fifteen minutes away and travel to school by car. The community is mostly employed in farming, particularly dairying, and allied rural industries. Athlone school has a staffing profile in 2010 of 2.0, which included the principal, classroom teacher and ESO. The expected enrolment of 2011 will rise to 16, and an expected enrolment of 22 in 2012 At Athlone Primary School we aspire to promote and provide a happy, friendly, challenging and flexible learning community in which all members are valued.
