Harrietville Primary School has an enrolment of 25 Prep-Year 6 children, organised into two classes: Prep to Year 3 and Years 4-6. This school has a staff of 2.7 equivalent full-time staff: 1.0 Principal class, 1.2 Teachers and 0.5 Education Support Staff. Provision of a rich and engaging curriculum is a priority and in addition to the core subjects, students receive weekly, specialist teaching in German, Science and ICT, providing a sound foundation for post-primary studies. Library and Art classes are delivered on a fortnightly basis through the MARC and MACC vans, with activities designed to support the school's curriculum, while the kitchen and vegetable garden provide opportunities for students to grow and cook their own food. Community involvement is encouraged and an active Parents and Friends Association provides an important forum for the community, supporting the school in many areas including fundraising and fostering social links. The school’s Physical Education program is also supported by the community, providing students with a subsidised P-6 Skiing program and access to swimming and tennis facilities. The school facilities are comprehensive and include two large classrooms, a combined classroom/library, kitchen and offices. All classrooms are fitted with interactive white boards and computers at a ratio greater than the state average. The school grounds include landscaped and grassed areas, an adventure playground, a covered multi-use sports court, vegetable garden, water tanks and a 4.2 kW solar power system.
