Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Primary (OLGC) is a coeducational school catering for the needs of children from Kindergarten to Year 6. It is part of the peninsula cluster of schools in the Diocese of Broken Bay. The school has experienced two major building phases. The first phase of building included eight new classrooms; three refurbished classrooms, a new canteen and toilets, library and administration block. Rebuilding also included new play areas and car parking. This was completed in 2007. Under the Commonwealth Government's Building Education Revolution and in co-operation with the Diocese of Broken Bay, Frenchs Forest Parish and Centacare the second phase of building included four newly completed classrooms and an Early Learning Centre. Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School was originally built by volunteer labour. It opened in 1962. The Catholic community is characterised by a sense of unity, support and a strong sense of family. The parent community is relatively affluent, articulate and has high expectations of the school and the children. Parents continue to provide strong support for the school through the Parents and Friends Association and the School Board which supports the Principal in implementing the school Vision and Mission Statement. The School Board includes members of staff and the parent body with the Parish Priest and Principal as ex-officio members. The P&F Association supports the schools' annual goals through focussed parent engagement, organisation of social events, fundraising activities and as class parent helpers. OLGC has experienced steady growth during in recent years moving from seven classes in 1999 to fourteen classes in 2011. The present student population is 365. Classes are currently arranged into three kindergartens, two year ones, three year twos, two year threes, two year fours and a single class in each of years five and six.
