Coburg North Primary School is situated in the northern suburbs approximately nine kilometres from the CBD of Melbourne. Established in 1937 the school currently has an enrolment of 140 students from diverse cultural backgrounds. The school has 13.5 equivalent full time staff, 1 Principal class, 8.5 teachers and 4 Education Support Staff. The school is dedicated to providing a quality education for its pupils so that they will be effective members of the community and the underlying principle of the school’s policies and practices is that the learning needs of the students are the primary consideration in all decision making. The school values of learning, respect, friendship, honesty, trust, confidence, enjoyment and responsibility underpin the every day operations of Coburg North. Individual and communal Rights and Resposibilites are a major focus in 2011 at Coburg North. The school is committed to improving the achievement of all students and offer a comprehensive curriculum carefully planned using the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS). The teaching and learning of Literacy and Numeracy is our core business but we also offer a wide range of other opportunities including: Visual Arts, Performing Arts, PE, Sport and Computer specialist lessons. The school is well equipped with technology which includes desktops, notebooks and interactive whiteboards in every classroom.
