The Australian Islamic College of Sydney was established in 1997 by a group of people who set up a registered Islamic school to serve the local community's needs. The students were initially housed in makeshift buildings lacking in facilities and resources. The College has grown in size and number over the years, reaching over 600 in 2008. The College is currently well resourced with laboratories, a library, offices, staffrooms, storerooms and an administration block. The College strives to improve academic outcomes for students from a Language Other Than English background. There are plans for a language laboratory. The core values of the school are derived from Islamic teachings focusing on good morals translated into good deeds resulting in productive citizens. The parent community has high expectations of the College and aspires to have their children gain a university education. Our staff strives to meet these expectations. The College achieves its mission by providing a safe learning environment with an Islamic ethos. Each school day begins with prayers followed by a short values education session. The College is currently the only Islamic school in the western suburbs serving the multicultural Muslim community.
