Birkdale School has been delivering a quality educational program in the Bayside since 1916. A student's success is based on willing participation in quality learning programs. Prep has grown from two classes in 2007 to four in 2009. The Prep to Year 7 curriculum has been developed using the essential learnings of the Key Learning areas, and includes an extension component in our Japanese program, Gifted and talented, Early Intervention, and Learning-support strategies, and a successful 'inclusive' Special Education Program for SWD. Classroom teaching programs are cooperatively developed by highly professional, innovative, year-level teams. The core foundation of these programs is quality teaching and student learning of skills in English and mathematics. Our school is an active community participant, performing at local nursing homes and community events and participating in local community forums, Anzac day commemorations, Eisteddfod competitions (choirs, performance groups, bands) and sporting competitions (local, district and state). Through our 'open door' policy, we value parent participation, and have an active Parents and Citizens Association which provides advice and resources critical to school success.
