Our Prep to Year 7 curriculum, established using Essential Learnings in Key Learning Areas, including German, is augmented with Gifted and Talented, Early Intervention Strategies and Learning and Special Needs Support. Experiences gained at primary school lay the foundations to cope with real life situations children face when they enter the wider society. For this reason, we provide a stimulating environment helping in the acquisition of knowledge and skills considered so necessary for further learning. Our school is active in the community participating in Anzac Day, Eisteddfod (choir, band, J-rock) and local sporting competitions. Our chaplain addresses the spiritual and/or ethical needs of students. It is our belief that education is the responsibility of teachers, parents and students. We form partnerships so that children can develop trusting relationships with adults who care about their welfare. Ferny Grove State School services the needs of a diverse community including a significant number of families with one or more adults serving in the Australian Defence Forces. These families are supported by the work of our defence transition teacher aides who work closely with both students and their parents. We celebrate the successes of our students both academically and socially as part of our commitment to high standards and expectations. Student behaviour is excellent with very low levels of bullying reported across the school. Our special needs team meets weekly to discuss the needs of students who have been struggling with their learning. This team is well regarded within the community for its advocacy for these students.
