Kurwongbah State School is a Multi-age School on the north side of Brisbane. The school vision is for all students to become responsible, confident, self-motivated and co-operative individuals who aspire to achieve their maximum potential. The multi-age philosophy is the basis for the organizational strategy used at Kurwongbah which involves grouping children together over a span of age or year levels. This makes possible a range of strategies which will assist the school to be more responsive to the individual needs of our students. The school curriculum has a strong focus on teaching higher order thinking skills and whole school literacy and numeracy programs. There is also a focus on performing arts through music and drama as well as a range of sporting opportunities for all students. Individual learning needs are addressed through provision of learning support, enrichment, special education, technology and fine motor and speech programs. Kurwongbah State School has an active, supportive community, evidenced through the Parents and Citizens Committee, Bi-annual Fete Committee, Parent Representative Group and the many volunteers who assist in classrooms.
